YOU, YOUR CONSTRUCTION PROJECT & SECURITY

You are going to undertake a construction project at your residence. Your place of safety. Your sanctuary.

Today one of the biggest crime creation problems is breach of security.

Building is not a breach of security. It is what you, the homeowner unwittingly invites onto your property and into your house, which is a breach of security.

You start approaching construction companies for tenders.  However, you are not realistic and feel their quotes too costly. Therefore, you go the route of Plan B. Outside building supplies companies, you see many people sitting with  cardboard and corex  signs. Builders, electrician, plumber, and painter – some are so ready and willing to work, they even have their tools with them.

In you “wisdom”, you stop you car and load up the cleanest nicest smile-carrying person.

You have just breached your security!

What you think you may have saved in your wisdom may just have cost you your life.

Reputable companies have traceable staff. Identity documents, they pay UIF, wages are paid into bank accounts, and these people are traceable!

You now take  this very friendly looking person into the  building  suppliers and ask him to  give you a shopping list of what he will require. Because he unskilled he does not know the difference between 1m3 of  plaster  sand (R  350.00) and a truck  load  (R  2,100.00). Therefore, he proudly orders a truckload of plaster sand. In addition, he also requests 30 pockets of cement (R 2,400.00) where he actually requires 5 (R 350.00). Still you are impressed! This man knows exactly what he is doing.

You arrive at home and he now has a problem. No taxi money or food. You now find yourself running around buying take-outs.

In addition he is not being supervised. And the last time you did construction work was when you worked on the Pyramids in Ancient Egypt.

Not only are you going to end up with surplus building materials, your project will not have been a supervise project, thus the workmanship will not be acceptable and most of all you would have ended up paying more if not double the original quote. There is a lot of work in the construction industry. Right now, there is a shortage of skilled competent people.

The people sitting next to the road arenot employed because they are not skilled in the profession, which they profess to advertise on that piece of cardboard. Apart from the fact that in a weeks time you may just have encountered a direct criminal act as a result of you having breached your own security!

Think about the consequences before you stop at the side of the road and invite a stranger without any traceable means into your Home.
