Top Thatch & Top Poles is a thatching company that provides top quality service to the corporate and private sectors alike. Specializing in projects such as residential, game farms, rest camps as well as international. Top Thatch & Top Poles is becoming one of the top thatching companies in Southern Africa.

Top thatch was started in 1989 by Johan le Roux and Dewald Heiberg at premises in Montana, Pretoria. Both Johan and Dewald already had 14 years experience in the thatching industry. Before long they owned several plantations in Mpumalanga and soon after opened a wood treatment plant near Roodeplaat Dam. This way they could treat their own wood thus producing the best prices on treated wood in the area.
 

Since then they also established another branch in 1995 in Fourways, Johannesburg. Top Thatch is one of the biggest suppliers of thatching grass and sells more than 2 million bundles of grass a year. They currently export to Namibia as well.

Top Thatch & Top Poles is an affiliated member of the South African Thatchers Association. The SA Thatchers Association's main aim is to set certain standards in the thatching Industry and make the community aware of important factors of the thatching process. It's purpose is also, in conjunction with the CSIR, to lay down specific guidelines in the thatching process.
