Choosing the right carpet

There are several important questions you need to ask yourself when choosing a carpet for your home. You want a floor covering that not only looks and feels good, but meets the requirements of the area you are carpeting. Remember to raise these questions with the person helping you: Which area in my home am I carpeting? Your new carpet must suit the area you're covering. High traffic areas like entrance halls need durable carpets with patterns or textures to hide soiling between cleanings. Softer carpets suit bedrooms or bathrooms where comfort is more important. What colour carpet should I choose? Your choice of carpet colour and texture will affect the personality of the room. Bear the following in mind: Natural colour carpets go with all shades of paint. Lighter carpets or flooring create an open airy feel; darker shades make a room seem smaller and cosier. Plain or lighter colours are best suited for rooms where soiling is less prevalent. Textured and multi-coloured carpets should be used in high traffic areas and areas adjacent to external doors, to hide dirt.
